Royal Collection

It seems Jonathan Jones of the Guardian thinks the Royal Collection should be split up according to this article on Art History news.

I think splitting up the collection is a terrible idea. As Bendor points out look what happened to the Royal collection when Charles I was executed a lot of it was recovered by his son Charles II when the monarchy was restored but it has mostly been built up since.

At the end of the day would the British public be able to see it if it was in public collections or would it be stuck in storage as most of the art  belonging to art galleries around the county is with only a small proportion being on display at any one time.
